Travel back to the days of America’s founding during the America 250/190 Celebration in downtown Minden! The Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution invite visitors of all ages to experience Revolutionary War history through hands-on activities, fascinating stories, and living history demonstrations.
Young patriots can decode a real message from George Washington’s spy network, write secret messages with invisible ink, try their hand at writing with a quill pen, and seal letters with hot wax just as they did more than 250 years ago. Visitors can also meet costumed storytellers and Revolutionary-era reenactors, learn about patriot heroine Mary Katharine Goddard, and discover the clever ways secret messages were hidden in everyday clotheslines during the fight for independence.
Families can enjoy free coloring sheets, take photos with reenactors, and even sign up to learn whether one of their ancestors served during the Revolutionary War. One of the highlights of the exhibit is the story of how George Washington worked alongside the ancestor of a local family, complete with historical documentation on display.
Whether you’re a history buff or simply looking for a fun family activity, this interactive exhibit brings the stories, secrets, and heroes of the American Revolution to life.
