Step into North Louisiana’s rich past at the North Louisiana Historical Association Spring Awards Luncheon, a warm and engaging gathering celebrating local heritage, education, and community.
Held on Saturday, April 25 from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM, this special event takes place at the charming Dorcheat Historical Museum in Minden, where history comes alive through both place and conversation. Hosted by NLHA Board Member and museum Executive Director Jessica Gorman, the luncheon offers an intimate setting with seating for approximately 50 guests—so early reservations are encouraged.
Guests will enjoy a delicious, locally prepared meal by Fat Guy’s Catering of Minden, featuring grilled pork chops, sweet potato casserole, fresh green beans, dirty rice, dinner rolls, iced tea, and a decadent bread pudding with bourbon sauce.
The highlight of the afternoon will be a fascinating presentation by Cindy Madden on “Edwin Sanders Richardson: A Model Educator.” A native of Webster Parish, Richardson’s remarkable career shaped education across Louisiana and beyond. From his leadership as a parish superintendent to his roles at Louisiana Tech and LSU, his legacy continues to influence modern educational systems. As Richardson’s great-niece, Madden brings a personal and insightful perspective to this inspiring story.
Admission is $20 per person, with payment available by mail or at the door. To ensure your seat, please RSVP by Tuesday, April 21 with the names of all attendees.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast, educator, or simply looking for a meaningful community experience, this luncheon offers a memorable afternoon of learning, connection, and Southern hospitality.
